Classroom Kits to Spread Down Syndrome Awareness
DSAW-Fox Cities now offers a kit that can be used to start a discussion about Down syndrome in your child's classroom. Children with Down syndrome or their siblings benefit from their peers understanding what Down syndrome is and that kids with Down syndrome are just like them!
What is included in the kit: (See photo below!)
*The DVD, "Just Like You" (Appropriate for students in approximately 2nd grade and up and for teachers, therapist or other school staff.
*The link to the video "My Friend Isabelle". (Appropriate for kids in early childhood through 1st or 2nd grade)
*An informational card that can be used by the teacher and sent home for parents and students to continue a discussion at home. (See below)
*A sample letter that can also be sent home to families describing the classroom discussion about Down syndrome.
*Down syndrome awareness silicone bracelets for each student and their teachers.
